Auto repair in Santa Fe can be a hassle, particularly if you have the ‘wrong’ shop doing the work. In this size of a city, there are not a ton of options. So, how do you find a good auto repair shop? Search google for ‘auto repair near me’, that’s one way. But how do you know what you’re going to get? The top spots in Google are usually paid for, and shops that have an advertising budget are not always the best. Here are a few tips you can use to find a good auto repair shop in Santa Fe:
1. Find an Auto Repair shop with a Good Reputation
As mentioned earlier, just searching ‘auto repair near me’ and choosing the first shop on the list is not enough. If we want to find a good shop, we want to look for one with a good reputation. How? First, check out reviews on places like Google and Yelp. Look for a company with at least a 4-star review. There may be a couple 1-star reviews in there- that is to be expected, since someone might have just had a really bad day and their cat just died, etc.
Next, check out the company on the Better Business Bureau (BBB). The BBB is a place where anyone can file a complaint about any business, and the BBB acts as a mediator to resolve the issue. Preferably, you want to see a rating of A+, that is the highest rating that the BBB gives, and a company that has this rating has earned it by putting their customer’s needs first.
2. Active member of the community
You live in Santa Fe every day, so wouldn’t you prefer an automotive repair shop that takes care of your community? Is the shop you’re looking at a member of the Santa Fe Chamber of Commerce? Do they volunteer and donate to organizations that make a difference in Santa Fe? Support companies that support the community. And, if they take care of the community, there’s a much better chance they will take care of you when you visit the shop.
3. Warranty
We’ve all heard the story- a person gets their car out of the shop only have to have the same issue come up a couple months later- and the shop won’t cover it. Wouldn’t you rather have an auto repair shop that offers you a warranty? Look for a shop that has a warranty that covers at least 2 years. That is the time frame that things will most likely break.
